CTa#2 Post

Summary of Post 1 made June 8, 2015: In the blog post, Gamifying Classrooms by Jeff Utecht, our speaker talks about how "gamifying" the classroom is motivational for teachers and more importantly, the students. The term is easily mistaken for, as the author said, "using games in the learning environment". "Gamification is using the ideas that are found in games to motivate students in a fun, competitive and engaging way that speaks to their inner kid." Jeff mentions that it is really taking off in upper elementary levels and middle school levels. He also gives links to COETAIL Final Project and to Gamification of Education to understand the process more.

Comment: I feel using this type of approach could be helpful, especially with our generation leaning towards a more technologically based society. I enjoyed learning and exploring into the Gamification world, if with just a brief overview with your links.

Comment: This is a very interesting approach to the classroom. It is not something I've ever heard of before but reading your blog made me more aware of what other opportunities are out there.
